Opus 2015-218: Election 2016: I Am Glad the Election Is Not Today

I find myself in a strange position.  I like the current incarnations of Donald Trump and Rand Paul.

Donald Trump may not have the polish to be president but he is not afraid to speak his mind.  When he sees immigration as a problem, he calls it a problem.  When he sees what millions of Americans see about John McCain being less that presidential material and trying to cash in on a failure in flying long ago, he calls it out.  He may not put things diplomatically.  He may be too harsh.  He is right.

Rand Paul has come out with a budget plan that has a lot to say for it.  He has brought into the spotlight the issue of Planned Parenthood harvesting organs with public tax money.  More power too him.  Just because he has been off the plantation before does not make these terrible statements.

The problem is that I can’t delete my memory of where these guys have been in the past.  My hope is that they will rub off on the other candidates and force them to address the issues.  I would hate to see a Trump/Paul ticket.  Of course anything is better than any Democrat on the horizon.
