Opus 2025-613: Does God Celebrate New Years?

For that matter does God pay any attention to what we consider to be the new year?  I don’t see him celebrating, that’s not the right word.  I’m sure He’s aware that we are marking the day as having some significance, but He is also aware of some of the computer games we play and He is not impressed.

I would venture a guest that He looks upon some of the ways in which we celebrate with raised eyes eyebrows.  Hopefully it doesn’t get to the point of throwing lightning bolts or sending tornadoes.

Why do we celebrate anyway?  Why is the end of the year considered an excuse to have a party?   Most of the memes that I see about the baby new year replacing the old man on his way out have the idea of being glad it’s gone.  Many of them don’t forecast any optimism about the year coming.

Why do we celebrate?

I think much of it’s just that we look for any good excuse to have a party.  Those of us who are introverts are happy if we are left alone with our books and our four walls.  As long as your party doesn’t spill over into our world, copacetic.

As you look back over the year, don’t get too depressed about your mistakes.  Mistakes are there for us to learn from.  If you made serious mistakes, it may take a while to dig out but the future it’s full of hope.
