I find myself wondering what kind of conversations God and Moses had that we have no record of. There must have been numerous times where God would give Moses instructions, where Moses would ask questions, where there was almost a banter going back-and-forth. I know in our stiff neck Protestantism we sometimes tend to forget that God is a person, but He is. I think of Him walking in the garden with Adam and Eve before they decided to go rogue. I wonder what are the things he talked about with Abraham besides pack up and get out of town. I would’ve loved to have listened to some of Jesus’s conversations with His father.
So wouldn’t it have been wonderful if the NSA had been around when God and Moses were discussing His strategy in the appearance before Pharaoh. Don’t get sidetracked by the date of 2000 BC. Nobody knows the exact date. It varies depending upon your theological persuasion and whether you are conservative or liberal, whether you’re a believer or a pagan. Just be satisfied it was a long time ago. What kind of great sidetracks did they get off on? Since I believe God has a sense of humor, I would’ve loved to have recorded some of his one liners. What would it be like if Moses had had one of those little secret listening devices in his cell phone?
Unfortunately, he had his phone turned off. We are going have to wait until we get to eternity and then, if it still is an issue, we can ask Moses face-to-face. He may refuse to answer, but we can ask.
