Opus 2024-116: It Is What Walls Are For

I keep wondering how people find the time to watch screens as much as they do.  I am asked, “Did you see...”  My answer is usually, “No”.  I am at the point where I might recognize the name of a program but that is probably because they mentioned it before.  I usually ask if it is a medical problem or something.  I recently asked a group of senior men if they had closed all the libraries in their area.

How bored do people have to be to pick up a book?  It seems like everywhere I go, I see people sitting with nothing to read.  They just pick a spot on the wall or floor and stare.  My wife sometimes get insulted when I take a book with me.  I patiently explain to her that it is insurance or a superstitious token.  I find that if I have a book to read the time in a waiting room is very short.  If I forget to bring one then I always join the literate zombies and stare at the wall.

If you can’t afford  library card (they are free) then look around and you will probably find some books that are being given away.

Or stare at the wall.
