Opus 2024-082: No Trinity

There has to be a reason why God did not include the vocabulary word “trinity” in the Bible anywhere.  The Trinity is a theological doctrine that summarizes several concepts found clearly in the New Testament:  There is one God.  The Father is God.  The Son is God.  The Spirit is God.  They are three distinct persons who can communicate with each other.  Yet there is only one God.  Confused?  Good, you were listening.  It is a truth that we are to wrestle with and meditate on but involves infinite concepts that are honestly beyond us in our present limited form.

Another reason might be that by including the word it would limit our thinking in our meditation to what the word means.  Possibly by focusing on the meaning of the word, we would not be open to the vast panorama of the concept.

I recently was in a discussion where the mystery of the Trinity was very obvious.  There was a lot of confusion in the discussion because we kept trying to put the Trinity in a box.  That does not work very well.  I knew I was in trouble when I was told that the Trinity is easy to understand.  All that told me was that he did not have a clue.

I don’t either but at least I know it.
