I was again sitting on the porch and staring at the beautiful colors of the morning. It has begun to warm up enough that a jacket and a cup of hot coffee make for a pleasant contemplation. It dawned on me that what is happening here is I was whetting my appetite for eternity. A repeated thought I have is, “If it is this good now, what will it be when I have perfect vision and my ears stop ringing?” If I didn’t have grandchildren to enjoy I might be ready to go.
I could not do this if I were not retired. I rejoice in the opportunities of retirement. If you see me I am not necessarily taking a nap and I am not depressed. I am thinking deep thoughts. If they turn out to be shallow thoughts then maybe I can at least make them wide.
Sharpen me Lord; get me ready.
