I must run in very restricted circles. I have yet to find anyone who enjoys what churches are calling “contemporary worship”. Of course I have not talked to anyone in a praise band.
The thought I had one morning was wondering if anyone would be able to recognize these songs if you just played the melody without the accompaniment. They tend to be so monotonous, repetitive and unimaginative that I would fall asleep if I wasn’t expected to stand. Maybe that is why contemporary worship has the congregation stand through all the singing. I guess it also gives the various musicians a chance to show the licks they learned this week.
Call me a cynic but don’t play me your music while you do it. I might get violent.
