 Opus 2022-362: More Legalism, Please

The dark side is very seductive.

We see it in life long Democrats who reject the moral values of their youth so they can be cool, for want of a better phrase.  This of course is referring to those old enough to remember that the good guys wear white hats.  Believe it or not people like Nancy Pelosi were raised in a day of sanity and morality.  They got sucked in.  Or have they been evil from their youth?

We see it in the Never Trumpers who are coming out of the woodwork.  It is amazing to me how people have such selective memories.  I refer not just to the empty minds at the accomplishments of Donald Trump but the way in which they don’t seem to remember all the vile and nasty things that have come from the Democrat talking heads.

We see it in people who are slowly sucked into compromise on almost any issue.  They seem willing to give up anything in order to be accepted.  They will send their children to schools that they know are going to pervert them.  They will shop in stores that are out to destroy their way of life.  They will attend churches that blatantly distort the teachings of the Bible.

We need more legalists.

I know that legalism has gotten a lot of bad press.  The stereotype is the hate filled preacher talking about love.  Literature is full of them.  They do exist but they are not the problem today.  We are faced with a lack of laws and standards, not an excess.  I had a discussion recently with someone about raising children.  I don’t remember who it was but he must have been another old fart because he agreed with me that as bad as abuse is, a child raised in a very strict home has a better chance of coming out mentally balanced than one that was raised in a permissive atmosphere.

Resist the darkness.  Embrace the light.  Let the Devil be the one that flees.

  1. "Resist the darkness. Embrace the light."

    A Double "AMEN!" on that.

  2. I don't know if you have ever been in a service where they pass out candles, turn out the lights and light the candles one at a time but, if it is done right, it is a real object lesson.
