If you like memes check out Georges’ Grouse. He does a daily gathering from various sites. Better him than me. One of the themes that comes up involves pictures of famous actors caught in real life. What caught me today was John Wayne shaking hands with someone at a dinner. As I looked at the picture I realized that I would not recognize many modern day actors without their makeup or costumes. I don’t know if that is good or bad. Does it say that they are great at their job or that there fame is a result of good PR?
I have been forced to watch a lot of TV as we traveled across the country. My wife is into Hallmark movies. My problem is that I can’t tell the actors apart. To me it is not just the plots that are the same but it looks like the same people in each one. I am so far out of it on pop culture that I am also starting to care. It can be embarrassing being culturally illiterate. The other day I heard someone talking about the Simpsons making a Christmas album. I was not aware that Homer had a daughter named “Jessica” or that she had a sister. It is a good thing that I kept listening rather than sharing my ignorance.
Actually I am quite happy about being ignorant in certain areas.
