Another Christmas Day has come and gone. We spent this one in Virginia with my children and grandchildren. It was a glorious time of year because we were all together. It was a sad time when we looked out our window and realized how many people are living in fear. We had a tree, Christmas music, Christmas cookies, the joy of watching a toddler and a crawler open presents and an awareness that Christmas marks the day of the Incarnation when God became man. We know what Christmas is all about.
For those who have missed it and suddenly wake up, it is not too late to celebrate Christmas. Technically the four weeks before Christmas are called Advent. Then you have the 12 days of Christmas ending on Epiphany which is January 6 next year. So you see, you are still in the Christmas season. Orthodox churches celebrate the birth of Christ on Epiphany, so you have company.
So if no one said it to you, “Merry Christmas.”
