Opus 2018-033: Is It a Boycott if You Never Watched?

We went to lunch today and the sign on the door said that today they closed at 6:00 P.M.  That puzzled me until I realized the Super Bowl would be played today.  I am guessing some time after 6:00.

I keep forgetting.

I will not be watching the Super Bowl this year.  I would like to say it is because of the millionaires protesting how brutal life is in the United States by showing a lack of respect for our flag and national anthem.  That would be a lie.  The truth is I stopped watching the Super Bowl years ago.  I almost wish I was still watching football on TV so I could make a protest, but it is not to be.

You might be better off if you took a walk or read a book.  Enjoy your evening.

  1. I've rarely ever watched other people doing sports of ANY kind. I figure if I'm not interested enough to do it myself, why on earth would I want to watch someone ELSE do it? And if I AM doing it, there won't be a TV handy.

    1. And I am sure you have noticed how church is becoming a spectator sport.

  2. Heh! I was pondering that question myself ...

My last full sitting of a Super Bowl was 1986.

Per chance over the years during the regular season I witnessed most everyone inside a few sport-bars and restaurants stand en masse just before the National Anthem simply so they could race like heck to the restrooms so they would be back before the opening kickoff.

    1. Maybe you have the beginning of an answer. Don't unlock the bathrooms at the stadium until after the national anthem.

We will give you the footnote.

      Grace and peace.
