Opus 2016-323: Liberty Means a Half Loaf

Politics is about power and a republic is about compromise in power.  We tend to forget that.  In politics the only way you get everything you want is to be a total tyrant and care nothing about anyone else.  It is usually a scenario that ends violently.  We need to understand it is okay to go for the whole enchilada as long as we don’t expect to actually get it.  One person's freedom is another person's limitations.  Liberty only exists in compromise and constraint.

Trump was not my first choice and for a reason.  Many of those reasons are still there.

Trump was my final choice and for a reason.  Those reasons are still there.

We are watching the process of putting together an administration.  There are names for everyone to feel good about.  There are names for everyone to worry about.  It is a process in which no one gets everything they want.  The Founding Fathers set it up that way on purpose.  They understood that the more voices you had at the table the less chance for tyranny and despotism.

Remember that none of us will get a whole loaf, even Trump.  And be glad.

Comments are welcome. Feel free to agree or disagree but keep it clean, courteous and short. I heard some shorthand on a podcast: TLDR, Too long, didn't read.
