Opus 2016-311: The Democrats Will Block California Secession

Without California the Democrats are dead as an influence in the federal government.

Look at the current numbers for the last election:
Electoral College:  Trump 290, Hillary 232
Popular vote:   Democrats 64,223,958
        Republicans 62,206,395
Senate balance:  Republicans 52, Democrats 48
House balance:  Republicans 238, Democrats 194
Consider what they would be if California were allowed to leave:
Electoral College:  Trump 290, Hillary 177
Popular vote:   Democrats 56,861,468
        Republicans 58,290,186
Senate balance:  Republicans 52, Democrats 46
House balance:  Republicans 224, Democrats 155
So don’t get too excited about the idea that California will pull out.  That door was closed back in 1865 and the Democrats can’t afford to have it opened again.
