There are times when I am glad I am not a gourmet. Currently I cannot make coffee at home. This is forcing me to stop at places that I don’t usually frequent. When you need coffee, you need coffee. We have a Starbucks close to our house and although their style is too strong for my delicate palate, I can handle their light roast. It has some snazzy Starbucks names, but a light roast by any other name, be it O so sweet....
The problem is that every time I would drive away from Starbucks with nothing but a plain cup of coffee the cash register in my head would go, “$2.45. Ouch! $2.45. Ouch! $2.45. Ouch!...” I also lack a gourmet’s wallet. In a moment of tightwad splendor I decided to try the Circle K. I sampled something called Ipanema Estates. I was pleasantly surprised.
As I say, I am no gourmet. That applies to coffee as well as truffles. I do know a really bad cup of coffee. I know a really good cup of coffee. I don’t know that Circle K Imanema Estates is a really good cup of coffee, but it is as good as Starbucks light roast.
And the cash register in my head is dancing, “99 cents. Yes!”
If you are a coffee snob, live dangerously. Try Circle K. (I get no kickback for this endorsement and warn you that business being what it is, the Circle K near you may be using leftover grounds from the local Thai takeout.)

Remember, Starbucks doesn't want the business of Christians, anyway. The CEO said so.
ReplyDeleteI guess that makes me spiritual and saves me money. Good job.
