People are always asking, “How’s it going?” I hate just saying, “Fine.” That seems so vanilla and life is more spumoni, the kind with nuts.
So as I climbed into the dentist chair to have an adjustment made on a temporary crown I told the lady, “I have nothing but first world problems.”
It is true. Think about the problems I would have if I lived in a Muslim country, even one like Egypt where it is officially legal to be a Christian. They are still being beaten and bombed. Or how about a country that is already in the bag with socialism. I would have no food, no job and no small parts to fix my toilet, assuming I had a toilet. The warlords are not coming across the border. I don’t live in the third world.
The big issues I have to deal with are good: Diabetes under control. Colon clean. Tooth fixed. My health insurance is still working and my car is still running.
I need to forget about the fact that my house has termites. Well, not forget, but at least not fixate. I need to get beyond the fact that my breakfast bakery ran out of bread the other day. Just because there is no pico de gallo on the shelf and the signals are turning red is nothing to start a revolution over.
Life is good when all you have are first world problems.

Pico de gallo is not my friend.
ReplyDeleteThat may explain why you don't like Ted Cruz.

So very true. May I borrow that statement to use when people ask me how I am?
ReplyDeleteSince it wasn't original with me it will be someone else who sues us both.
