Opus 2015-380: On the Street: A Problem

Please.  Restaurant managers, train you people to stop saying, “No problem.”  Of course it is no problem.  I am paying you to make it no problem.  You are supposed to make the problem go away. 

The appropriate response is, “My pleasure” or “Consider it done” or “Yes, is there anything else I can do for you?”  The world is full of problems and an extra pat of butter is not one of them.

  1. May we also add to that the habit of calling old ladies "Sweetie?" I am old. And arthritic. And somewhat grumpy. What I am not is a Sweetie. Harumph.

    1. I get that one from waitresses. The one that gets under my skin is being called "young man". I worked years for this gray hair.

  2. Back when I was doing push-button telemarketing, they had a key for that despicable phrase, but none for "thank you."
