Opus 2015-158: Response: Muslim and Traitor Are Not Synonyms

I want to respond to a comment left recently by Vincent of Ton Thoughts.  I responded on the post but my thinking continued.  That is always a good sign.

First off, I am not convinced that President Obama is a closet Muslim who is part of a conspiracy to bring sharia law to the United States.  I am convinced that he is not a Christian, in spite of his claims.  To paraphrase a paraphrase, I know Christians.  Christians are friends of mine.  And you, Mr. President, are not a Christian.  Unless of course by Christian you mean someone who is not a Muslim, Buddhist or Hindu.  In that case, okay.

He is, however, a left-wing socialist who would prefer sharia law to the Constitution because it institutes an elitist hierarchy instead of elected political leaders.  The benefit of sharia law would be that it is the rule of elitist opinion rather than the rule of law.  The law becomes whatever the mullahs say it is this week.  That kind of understanding flies in the face of Constitutional law but is preferred by Progressives (aka socialists, communists, Democrats, Rinos, environmentalists) because it lets them rule by fiat instead of consent.

In reference to my earlier questions about President Obama in regard to treason, I would also point out that being a Muslim does not make one a traitor.  Along with the part of the Constitution I quoted about treason there is a part that goes like this,

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”

It is called the First Amendment.  It is hated by Progressives as much as the Second Amendment, in fact as much as the Constitution itself.

Technically you can be a Muslim and an American but it is harder to be a “good” Muslim and a loyal American than it is to be a “good” Christian and a loyal American.  Both have a priority of obedience to God before obedience to secular authority but the traditional American values are more in tune with the God of the Bible than with the God of the Koran.

In the real world nothing is easy.
