I hope we can agree on this one:
“Can I borrow a Kleenex?”
No! A thousand times, no! Might I add, “Never”? Things which are borrowed are supposed to be returned. I do not want you to return the Kleenex to me. After you are done, throw it away. A gift, yes. A loan? Yech!
Maybe it’s just me. It seems to be that way on a lot of other issues.

Maybe they mean until they can "LOAN" you a new, clean one.
ReplyDeleteSure, just like they would actually pay me back if I loaned them a dollar.

About actually loaning things: I have learned over the years not to loan anything to anyone unless I don't care whether or not I get it back. This applies to family, friends, and acquaintances.
ReplyDeleteThat is my philosophy. One of the Bible verses that speaks to this is
Delete(Matthew 5:42 KJV) Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.
Since Proverbs repeatedly condemns loans I have to put it together as you have. We may call it a loan for their pride but I always let them know I consider it a gift.
