Opus 2015-130: Would You Marry Your Waitress (or Waiter)?

I am not in the market for a wife.  I already have one, thank you, and one is enough for a lifetime of challenge and growth.

But I got to thinking about how pleasant the ladies are that work in a good restaurant.  They are often attractive.  They are friendly and smile a lot.  They laugh at my jokes without rolling their eyes, at least when I am looking.  They give a window of worthiness to the day.

Would I look for a wife in a restaurant?

It wouldn’t hurt to look but it would only be a first step.  I would want to know if they are paying attention to the world and if they are capable of thinking for themselves.  I would want to know if they are reading and what they are reading.  I would want to know how much time they spend watching TV.  I would want to know why they are working as a waitress and what long range goals are ahead.

It could be that the person bringing your coffee is a rare jewel in a simple setting.  Of course it could also be that she is a simple stone that has been polished a lot.

I am glad I am not in the market.  Just the thought is depressing.
