Opus 2014-57: On the Street: Deep Sea Divers

What does this mean and why is it repeated so many times?
“I wanna be, I wanna be, I wanna be a deep sea diver
I wanna be, I wanna be, I wanna be a deep sea diver
I wanna be, I wanna be, I wanna be a deep sea diver
I wanna be, I wanna be, I wanna be a deep sea diver”
What?

Sound tracks have different types of music.  Some you hear and enjoy.  Some provides white noise and you ignore.  Some gets under your skin and causes a mental rash.  These words are all I can understand of a song that comes up regularly on the elevator music where I have breakfast.  Actually, if it were elevator music I could take the stairs.  In the restaurant I am forced to grit my teeth until he gets to be a deep sea diver.  I guess I could go somewhere else but most places I have been the music is even worse.

Popular music has always had its low points.  It seems that today we have a growing number of people that are tone deaf and undiscerning.  Compare a bit of rap full of references to violent sexual acts, angry males and demeaned women and  “It’s my party and I’ll cry if I want to.”  Neither will last through the ages like the 1812 Overture but there is a real difference in world view and musical quality.

I can hardly wait for the pendulum to swing back.

  1. Should I assume that you might not care too much for "99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall?" ;-)

    1. At least they don't play that one on the speakers at Panera. I humbly request that you don't suggest it to them.

      Grace and peace.

Comments are welcome. Feel free to agree or disagree but keep it clean, courteous and short. I heard some shorthand on a podcast: TLDR, Too long, didn't read.
