Opus 2013-320: On the Street: Economic Traffic Report

I have driven to work two days now in rush hour traffic and my report is that the government shut  down has had no noticeable effect on people going to work.

Part of the observation is totally subjective.  It is still stop and go.  It still takes a long time.  I still hate the drive.  Little has changed.

Some of the observation is more objective.  My route one of those electronic sign boards that is used to announce amber alerts and major traffic issues.  On a daily basis it estimates the time to certain locations.  You can compare the time and get a feel for what is happening.  The lowest number I have seen for my destination is 13 minutes.  The highest I have seen when traffic is not totally stopped is 25 minutes.  I would consider a day that said 15 minutes to be typical of a good day.  For the past two days it has been 20 minutes.  It would seem that people are still going to work.

Washington is playing games.  We are the pawns being moved.  I resent it.  I plan on continuing to try to vote the suckers out.

Join me.  Please.

  1. Best of luck. I fear the leeches outnumber us.

    1. As one who is lined up at the public trough and sucking down tax dollars, I hope the economy recovers. How will I get paid if people like you don't pay taxes? Too many government employees don't seem to understand that.

      Grace and peace.
