Opus 2013-317: Headlines: Day One of Obamacare

The media begins to carry water for Obamacare on the first day.

I am currently experimenting with listening to the radio to catch traffic reports.  The station I am sampling has traffic “on the 5's.”  As I waited I heard what I thought was an advertisement, paid for by the Obama administration, for the new out-of-my-pocket, affordable health care.  I kept waiting for the little line at the end, “Paid for by Obama the Savior Committee.”  It never came.

The tone of voice was upbeat and breathless like an eight year old girl announcing the latest Justin Bieber album.  The attitude seemed to imply that the oceans did stop rising today.  The reporter interviewed two people.  One, who gave a sound bite, was from England and thought socialized medicine was a grand idea.  There was no word on why he was not in England enjoying it.  The second person was dropping off her mother at the Emergency Room and didn’t know anything about Obamacare.  I am guessing she did not have a sound bite because she was illegal and didn’t speak English well.

Two people interviewed.  Two positive responses.  This in a nation that has the vast majority of people who know about the new mandate and do not approve.  I wonder how that happened?

Then there was a chirpy listing of all the things the radio station was going to do to help us get signed up.  A two hour special was coming.  They had a website with information.  There was a list of services available.

There were no indications of who was going to pay for all this.

This is what we called the unbiased media.
