Opus 2012-2, Mission Impossible

Do you remember the original TV series called “Mission Impossible?”  I remember how it would always begin.  A package would be picked up with pictures and a tape.  The part that was always the same was, “This mission, should you choose to accept it....”

My wife is always telling me she has a job for me.  I often want to chant the line from Mission Impossible but since I have an instinct for survival, I restrain myself.

I wonder how often God tells us to do something and we assume that this little comment is part of the package.  I believe in free will.  I believe God gives us the ability to make decisions.  I believe that every step of the way He makes it clear what He expects but there is always that caveat:  Should you choose to accept it.

So we find that many choices we have are really not options.  We are called to integrity, uprightness, obedience.  We are called to walk the Highway of Holiness.  That is our Mission.

There was never any question on the TV program that they would accept the mission.  If they had started refusing, it would have made for a short series.  May your series be long and productive.

  1. And may yours be likewise, Pumice. BTW, I agree that many blogs earn the TLDR. Even many of mine are longer than I like, and I wonder how many readers I lose.

  2. Blogs are kind of like sermons, if they are worth listening to you don't notice how long they are. And I think you might lose more people because you speak truth than because you are too long.

But that is just my opinion.

    Grace and peace.

Comments are welcome. Feel free to agree or disagree but keep it clean, courteous and short. I heard some shorthand on a podcast: TLDR, Too long, didn't read.
