It is also foolish to do it anywhere. This is because most of the greenhouse gas inventory comes from natural sources. Let me present the rough numbers:
1) Water is a greenhouse gas. On average, earth has ~1% water vapor in the atmosphere. 99.99+% of this comes from natural sources.
2) CO2 is a greenhouse gas. We have ~415 ppmv in our atmosphere. According to a table issued by the USDOE, 96+% of our CO2 comes from natural sources.
3) N2O and CH4 are the next largest components of our greenhouse gas envelope, at ~2 ppmv and 1 ppmv respectively. >90% of both of these come from natural sources.
4) To obtain common units of measure, 1% = 10,000 ppmv.
This all means that H2O is 96% of our greenhouse gas inventory, and it is all natural. Combining all of these, taking the 'Global Warming Factor' of each gas into account, you wind up with the shocking news that 99.7% of all earth's greenhouse gases come from natural sources. Don't take my word on this - ask any degreed climatologist (who's not afraid of losing tenure or funding.)
Bottom line - There is nothing that humanity can do to make any measurable change to the amount of greenhouse gases around us. Nothing.CKGnoreply@blogger.com
