(Genesis 1:27 KJV) So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.What does that mean? A lot of controversy is involved. One of the interesting things about being created in the image of God is that we are not the best at everything. Almost any animal that lives is better than we are at something. We cannot walk across the ceiling like a fly. We cannot live under water like a fish. We cannot fly like a bird.
What generated my thinking here was something I read on a blog dealing with preparation for a power outage and the need for light. The author of Stealth Survival said,
“One of our most severe shortcomings is our inability to see in the darkness. Our night vision is extremely poor and pales in comparison to other creatures present in our world.”I knew that cats could see in the dark but what the author was saying seemed to imply that seeing in the dark is better in a large number of animals. On the scale of life we have a very limited ability to see at night.
So we compensate by other means. No animal has come up with fire or flashlights. Those are the ways that humans respond to our lack of night vision. We apply the image of God by being creative. In so doing we not only drive back the darkness but produce a devise that can scare away the creatures of the shadows. Fires will keep animals away. A bright light will scare them.
Be grateful that the image of God makes you adaptable and superior.
